A single mom is raising three elementary kids, working hard to provide for them. Two of the kids get sick and she must miss work to care for them. Her next paycheck is smaller and now she can’t cover her bills. She contacts Lighthouse and we pay her electric bill for her. An act of love during her time of need. Through the Helping Hands ministry, we have had over 100 expressions of love to individuals and families with financial assistance. Needs are great: rent, utilities, food, clothes, prescriptions, etc. Your financial gifts are part of showing love to those in need.
Lighthouse partners with Dozier Elementary to show love to the children in the school. Because we provide backpacks with food to take home on the weekends for children who otherwise would go hungry, 15 families are experiencing God’s love weekly. There was even a Christmas party for families in need with tons of gifts, activities, and refreshments as expressions of love.
Lighthouse is part of the Kairos Prison Ministry. After a weekend encounter, one prisoner commented, “Realizing how many people care for me and are supporting me, it gives me no choice, I have to change my life.” You are part of changing lives through showing God’s love.
Your financial gifts help share God’s love.
There are some tax advantages you can benefit from by giving before the end of the year:
- Charitable IRA rollover. If you’re 70-1/2 years or older, you can give a rollover gift of up to $100,000 from your IRA, without adding a penny to your taxable income — converting tax dollars into kingdom treasure! Plus, it counts toward your required minimum distribution.
- Donating appreciated assets such as stocks or real estate can save you money on taxes and free up more funding for ministry.
- Cash gifts dated and postmarked by December 31 can generate a tax deduction.
You can give online, in person, or mail your gift in.
You can review your giving by using a secure login at LFwired.org/CCB.
If you have any questions, please let me know. And THANK YOU for your generosity!
