I bring you greetings from the Board of Directors who humbly serve our family here at Lighthouse. I want to start with an apology for not writing you to update you with information from the Board for a few months now. We have continued to work with Frank, Bobby and Dan, as well as the rest of the leadership at Lighthouse, to navigate our course into the future for us all.
The members of our Board of Directors are: Barry Miller – Chair, Cindy Baker – Vice Chair, Mike Tipton – Finance Chair, David Geary – PPRC Chair, Sam Werschky- Trustee Chair and Pam Cosby – Secretary. If you care to send any of us a note you can send it to us by our first initial and last name at lfwired.org (email@example.com). Also, please feel free to visit with any of us anytime you see us around the church. I want to also take this opportunity to thank Chuck Fielding and Lavenia Weathers for their three years of leadership and service on the Board which they completed at the end of December 2019.
One of the most exciting things we get to review when we meet each month is the new members. As you are aware, Dan Morris leads a Connect Class for new members each month. Recently, he led a group which had the largest number of new members that we have had in several years. Additionally, these new members came to Lighthouse through several different connections which helps to confirm the various and numerous ways in which we touch the community we live and serve in. I encourage you to seize the opportunity when you see a new face at a service and introduce yourself. You may be like me and introduce yourself to someone who may already have joined or visited us several times. Regardless, connecting with one another is the greatest way to welcome each other, grow in connection together and to help us grow to serve Christ.
Financially, LCA is in a solid financial position with the school year half completed. For Lighthouse, we ended 2019 with all our bills paid but without completing all of the mission outreach commitments through the United Methodist Church. January was one of the best that we have had for giving in several years. I encourage you to strengthen your walk with God through the discipline of stewardship. The honoring of God by donating to Lighthouse helps us all to fulfill our mission locally and worldwide. This discipline is often one of the most difficult to keep up with due to all the other needs we must meet but I would argue that this is also one of the most critical so that we can continue to expand the Kingdom of God. If you have any questions regarding your annual giving, please reach out to Bobby Cullen and he can help you to lean more or answer your questions.
Trustee issues relate to the upkeep and maintenance of our property including the parsonage. Currently, the board is researching the most effective maintenance and repair that can be done to improve the drives and parking around the church. I will share more information with you soon regarding our plan to make those repairs.
As a family, we are blessed by amazing Pastoral Care. Frank and the rest of the pastoral care team continue to lead us and serve those who are in need due to health issues, aging and graduations. These dedicated Saints tirelessly stand ready to serve each of us if needed and we are to be forever grateful. I would ask that we continue to keep all these who minister to those in need in our prayers and lift them up with encouragement.
Finally, I want to thank you all, on behalf of all members of the Board of Directors. Your continued support and participation in the activities and life of Lighthouse makes such an impact in our community and the life of others around us.
Blessings to you all,
