Die To Self

It’s possible to look put together on the outside while things are crumbling within. After Jerusalem’s walls were rebuilt, Nehemiah’s work shifted from repairing the city to renewing the hearts of its people—and that renewal began when they heard God’s Word, responded in obedience, and removed the compromises they had allowed into their lives. God isn’t interested in simply redecorating us; He wants to rebuild us from the inside out. Baptism beautifully pictures that transformation: the old life is buried with Christ, and through faith we rise to walk in a new way of life.
